Happy 30th Daddy!

Today was your Daddy's 30th birthday! Your Daddy is the sweetest man I have ever known and he loves you girls so very much! Today we celebrated by going to the mall to walk around for a little bit, then we came home and ate some cake and your Daddy opened his presents. He got a couple of new Quiksilver shirts and money but his real big gift from us was a leveling kit and new tires for his truck. See, your Daddy is a real guy's guy when it comes to trucks and football and half the time I have no idea what he is even talking about but he loves it so I listen and try to follow along.

Here are some things that you may not know about your Daddy:

  • Everyone thinks he is way younger than he actually looks. On one of our first dates, he got carded when trying to take me to a rated R movie! We got a good laugh outta that one.

  • He loves the country. He grew up in the country and that's where he loves.

  • Random strangers always walk up to him when we are out and about. We have never figured out why but people just love to talk to him--sometimes it is sometimes the most random things.

  • He will always say "yes ma'am and no ma'am" to someone when they are talking to him. Even when they tell him to stop doing it. He always explains he was raised by his grandparents to do so and that it is the Texas boy in him.

  • I was actually the one who talked him into joining the Coast Guard. He thought he would hate it but he LOVES it.

  • He is always right. I shouldn't say always but it really fustrates me when he is right so often. Whether it is about something important or just what time a movie starts, he always seems to be right! Ugh!

  • He loves listening to old country songs. I mean old. Think Marty Robbins, Johnny Cash, and Willie Nelson.

  • He grew up tending to a farm with his grandfather. He has sold and picked so many vegetables that his grandfather and him used to sell from the back of his grandfather's truck.

  • He and your Aunt Jody tried to kill each other when they were younger. I have heard accounts of your Daddy wanting to spray her with pest spray because she was being a pest and your Aunt Jody chasing your Daddy with a knife! Luckily, they get along now! Haha!

  • Your Daddy grew up without TV. Well, no cable anyway just whatever they could get locally.

  • You can never go wrong with buying him a shirt that has pearl snaps.
